Our Heart & Expectations
Thank you for your interest in joining our team!
Our Worship Team uses its gifts to serve our church, support one another, and help our congregation participate in worship. We want musicians and vocalists who care about the people in the room and the teammates beside them, and who share our desire to point people toward God.
Musical excellence matters to us. We prepare carefully, learn our parts, and keep growing in our skills. We also listen to one another and make musical choices that serve the song and help the congregation engage. Sometimes that means playing something simple, leaving space, or adjusting a part so the whole band works better together.
We value preparation, and we make room for mistakes. You don’t need to know everything on day one. We’re looking for a solid musical foundation and a willingness to learn, receive direction, and grow alongside the team.
What We Look For in a Teammate
- Be prepared. Spend time learning the music before rehearsal so we can use our time together to shape the songs and play as one band.
- Be reliable. Respond to scheduling requests and communicate promptly when your availability changes.
- Stay flexible. Be willing to adjust an arrangement, simplify a part, change a sound, or try a different approach.
- Be coachable. Welcome feedback and musical direction as part of learning and making music together.
- Care for the team. Listen, encourage others, contribute ideas, and help create a team where people enjoy serving together.
- Be present. Look up, engage with the congregation, and stay attentive to the Worship Leader and the people around you.
We’ll do our best to support you with clear communication, time to prepare, useful feedback, and opportunities to grow. We want you to feel connected to the team and comfortable asking for help.
Our Worship Team serves both Grace Orwigsburg and Grace Tremont. During the submission process, you’ll be asked if you have a primary location preference, but keep in mind you may be asked to serve at either location.

From Audition to Team Membership
1. Submit Your Audition
Complete the audition form and upload your videos. This gives us a chance to get to know you and hear what you can bring to the team.
2. We Review Your Submission
Our Worship & Media Director and Worship Leaders will evaluate your submission. We don’t expect perfection. We’re looking for a solid musical foundation, thoughtful preparation, and a humble, teachable attitude.
3. Rehearse With the Team
If your submission shows that you’re ready for the next step, we’ll schedule an informal rehearsal where you can play or sing with some of our team members. This helps us get to know one another and see how we work together musically.
If you’re not quite ready, we’ll offer suggestions for improving before another audition, or help you explore another place to serve at Grace Free Church.
4. Serve With Us on a Trial Basis
After the informal rehearsal, we may invite you to serve with the Worship Team for a few weeks on a trial basis. This gives you time to experience serving with us and helps everyone determine whether it’s a good fit.
If all goes well, we’ll invite you to become a member of the Worship Team!
How to Submit Your Audition
We only accept initial auditions through video submissions.
Your video does not need to be professionally produced. A phone video is fine, as long as your voice or instrument is clearly audible over the backing track.
Follow the three steps below to submit your audition. If you consider yourself an instrumentalist who also sings, audition for an instrument position. If you consider yourself a vocalist who also plays an instrument, audition for a vocal position.
We can always talk about your other abilities as we get further into the process.
Prepare for Your Audition
Download your package and spend time learning the songs.
Download Your Audition Package
Choose the package for your primary instrument or vocal position. Each package includes specific instructions, audio files, and charts.
Practice the songs and play or sing the parts as closely as possible, including the style and tone.

If the song is outside of your natural vocal range, feel free to transpose it into a more comfortable key.
Record Your Audition Videos
Help us hear your voice or instrument clearly.
Record videos showing you playing or singing along to each of the audition songs specified in your package.
- A phone video is fine; professional production is not required.
- Make sure your voice or instrument is clearly audible over the backing track.
- You may record an optional additional song that you feel showcases your talent. It does not need to be a worship song.

Once you’ve completed the audition form and uploaded your videos, our Worship & Media Director and Worship Leaders will review your submission. You can typically expect to hear back from us within a week or two.
We’ll let you know whether we’d like to arrange an informal rehearsal with the team. If you’re not quite ready, we’ll offer feedback to help you prepare for another audition or explore another place to serve at Grace Free Church.
